Color Therapy and Color Light Acupuncture overview.
This is an interesting article on a several years of research that indicate that the acupuncture meridians conduct light. The light can enter and exit
the body at acupuncture points to travel along the meridians. I have not been able to get the entire article yet, but the results of this research
seem to scientifically help conclude why light could be used to stimulate acupuncture points, thus provide the same health benefits as acupuncture.

Color Therapy and Color Light Acupuncture Background.
Acupuncture is well known worldwide as an effective treatment to promote natural healing.
It has been studied and practiced in China for several thousand years.
According to traditional Chinese medical theory, acupuncture points are situated on meridians along which Qi (chee), the vital energy, flows.
The acupuncture points have a lower electrical resistance than the surrounding skin area when tested with a galvanometer.
Traditional acupuncture is practiced with insertion of very fine needles at the acupuncture points, with the goal of stimulating a balanced flow of Qi, so the body will heal itself.
Abundant scientific studies have verified the affects of acupuncture, although a scientific explanation for the mechanism of action remains elusive.
The World Health Organization published a review of controlled trials using acupuncture and concluded it was effective for the treatment of 28 conditions and there was evidence to suggest it may be effective for several dozen more.
The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture reported that acupuncture may be considered as a complimentary therapy for the conditions in the list below. Most of the studies are supported by textbooks or at least one journal article:
- Abdominal distention/flatulence
- Acute and chronic pain control
- Allergic sinusitis
- Anesthesia for high-risk patients or patients with previous adverse responses to anesthetics
- Anorexia
- Anxiety, fright, panic
- Arthritis/arthrosis
- Atypical chest pain (negative workup)

- Cervical and lumbar spine syndromes
- Constipation, diarrhea
- Cough with contraindications for narcotics
- Drug detoxification
- Dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain
- Frozen shoulder
- Headache (migraine and tension-type), vertigo (Meniere disease), tinnitus
- Idiopathic palpitations, sinus tachycardia
- In fractures, assisting in pain control, edema, and enhancing healing process
- Muscle spasms, tremors, tics, contractures
- Neuralgias (trigeminal, herpes zoster, postherpetic pain, other)
- Paresthesias
- Persistent hiccups
- Phantom pain
- Plantar fasciitis
- Post-traumatic and post-operative ileus
- Selected dermatoses (urticaria, pruritus, eczema, psoriasis)

- Urinary incontinence, retention (neurogenic, spastic, adverse drug effect)
- Weight Loss
Western doctors are acknowledging the benefits of acupuncture and adopting it in conjunction with western medical practices. Some patients are uncomfortable with getting needles as part of the acupuncture treatment. The tissue is traumatized where the needle is inserted. There is needle sterility concerns, and concerns of bacteria or viruses entering the punctured area. These issues all have contributed to a deterrent of a broader acceptance of acupuncture in the west.
Typically an acupuncture treatment could last for around thirty minutes or more and could be applied daily for days, weeks or even months. This creates a significant cost for the patient for physician fees, as well as a significant time requirement for the physician and patient.
A relatively new practice, generally called color light acupuncture, is the use of a light source to stimulate acupuncture points. Color light acupuncture is being merged with the practice of light therapy or phototherapy which was practiced in ancient Egypt, Greece, China, and India. Scientific measurements have shown that light applied to an acupuncture point travels along the acupuncture meridian, indicating that light could be effective in stimulating Qi, and promoting associated health benefits.
Dr. Dan Oren, at the National Institutes of Mental Health, has found that green light is more effective than red in the treatment of S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder). Colored light therapy through the eyes, and applied to the body, is being studied and applied in the fields of psychology, optometry, chiropractic, medicine, and acupuncture. The breakthrough research of Nobel Prize nominee Fritz-Albert Popp in the 1970s established that all natural organisms emit light energy at the cellular level and that all organic life absorbs light and processes it internally. Faint color-coded broadcasts of the light energy emitted by cells the basis of intercellular communication in all living organisms.
Dr. Nogier, considered the father of frequency therapy, discovered seven main body frequencies. Each of these seven frequencies, also called Nogier Frequencies, relates to an organ or body zone. The "Universal" Nogier frequency requires the light source to have a cycle characteristic with an off time of 1.14 seconds and on time of 0.141 seconds.
Dr. Frank Bahr, Germany, detected more than 14 major bio-frequencies and Chakra frequencies. He was a student of NOGIER and is today the President of the largest German acupuncture society. The BAHR-Frequencies correspond to ear points and body acupuncture, three skin tissues layers and they have a relation to the nerve system, used for focal therapy etc.
Dr. Manfred Reininger, Austria, Vice President of the largest Austrian acupuncture society, was the first who detected the frequencies of the acupuncture meridians. In the previous years he found a large number of different frequencies related to the human body, diseases (allergy, tinnitus etc.) and the environment. He has discovered 10 meridian frequencies, 7 Reininger RI, RII, RIII, 17 level frequencies, 4 viral/bacterial and 19 anti-frequencies.
One can conclude through empirical evidence and inference that color light acupuncture could be used as an effective alternative to acupuncture, and should provide similar health benefits. Currently the available medical apparatus used to apply light stimulation at predefined bio-frequencies is limited in functionality and practicality, thus limiting therapists and individuals in the usage or research of the possible benefits from color light acupuncture.
Electronic apparatuses are available which use laser or incoherent LED (light emitting diodes) light sources for acupuncture point stimulation, with beneficial health results. The laser treatments require a professional therapist to administer the treatment, making the treatment time consuming for the therapist and expensive for the patient. There is danger of exposing the eyes to laser light and causing permanent retinal damage. The skin can also be damaged by too long or too intense of a treatment with laser light. The incoherent LED based electronic apparatuses typically have ergonomic issues requiring hand held application, thus very short duration treatments.
There has been significant advances in LED technology recently. LED's output light energy has significantly increased, the physical LED size has reduced and the availability of more color spectrum options are available. These factors give incoherent LEDs a significant advantage over lasers for usage in the stimulation of acupuncture points. Incoherent LED based medical apparatuses can be used safely and practically by the home user or the therapist.
Roze Health has invented The Chi-Ray as a practical product that can be easily used to apply color light acpupuncture treatments by either a therapists or by the home user.
Scientific Research Relevant To Colorpuncture
Acupuncture likely originated by a combination of trying different points to see what the results were, along with
working with patients that were more sensitive to their meridians and acupuncture points. Colorpuncture is in a similar
stage now. More testing on patients with medical conditions is required to see what the results are, which is called the empirical
method of proving a theory. However, scientists are also testing colorpuncture with scientific instruments and methods. The following
is a collection of articles I have found on this subject and a summary or abstract of the conclusions. Please forward me any relevant
articles that you find on this subject. I am open to including both positive and negative findings.
The following study tested the optical properties of acupuncture points and concludes that acupoints have a higher optical conductance
than the surrounding tissue. I see this as a good indication that acupuncture points are sensitive to light and respond to it in similar
ways that they would to needles (though this is my own observation).

Abstract:
An optical fiber-based diagnostic system was developed to detect the acupuncture points (Bonghan Corpuscle)
with small depth in human skin. A split fiber with 600 micrometer diameter was used in contact with the skin to
deliver and detect the light to yield backscattered signal, which took information from both small and deep layers.
The effect of backscattered signal from deep layer of skin was removed by another single fiber with the same diameter
as the split fiber. Both fibers were arranged as close as possible to each other to detect the optical properties of tissue
in a very small volume. The optical properties of the acupuncture point and its surrounding tissue in the skin were measured
separately in the visible wavelength range (400-700nm), and significant difference was found between them. To control
the consistency and reproduction of the experimental conditions of the fiber on the skin, a precise pressure sensor was employed.
The following article also shows a better absorption of light at acupuncture points. It also indicates that at 1Hz the absorption
of light is optimal. I'd like to point out that The Chi-Ray pulses at 1.14Hz (the universal Nogier frequency), which is very close
to the optimal 1Hz found in this study. I am pleased to find more evidence that appears to indicate that approximately 1Hz is the optimal
frequency to use for Colorpuncture.

Abstract:
Traditional Chinese Medicine suggests that acupuncture points are sites of energy exchange between the body and the environment.
The authors examined the relative absorption of near infra-red laser light (3 mW, 780 nm) using different pulse repetition
frequencies at acupuncture points compared to non-acupuncture points. Results revealed that at 1 Hz absorption
was greater at acupuncture points compared to nearby nonacupuncture points. At higher pulse repetition rates this difference
was reduced. This suggests that acupuncture points do in fact have different absorption properties to non-acupuncture points and
that there is a correlation between the skins' electrical conductivity and absorption of laser light

Light and Life
"We know today that man is essentially a being of light.
And the modern science of photobiology ... is presently proving this.
In terms of healing ... the implications are immense.
We now know, for example, that ... light can initiate, or arrest,
cascade-like reactions in the cells, and that genetic cellular damage can be
virtually repaired, within hours, by faint beams of light.
We are still on the threshold of fully understanding the complex relationship
between light and life, but we can now say, emphatically that the function of our entire metabolism is dependent on light."
